How to Give the Gift of Love This Holiday Season and Every Day in 2009

Everyone needs the gift of love!  When people are asked if they are loving they usually answer "yes"; yet, when we ask their families, we get a different answer.  Actions speak louder than words and the hardest person to see and understand is our self.  One of the greatest things ever written about how to be a loving person is found in the Bible - Corinthians 13:1-13. It is used and quoted in literature and religions around the world. Below is an abbreviated version and a great self test to see if your actions are loving. Insert your name every time the word "love" appears below.  When you get to the end ask again, am I really a loving person?

If I had the gift of being able to speak in other languages without learning them, and could speak in every language but didn't love others, I would only be making noise.
If I had the gift of prophecy and knew all about what is going to happen in the future, knew everything about everything, but didn't love others, what good would it do?
If I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, I would still be worth nothing at all without love.
If I gave everything I have to poor people, but didn't love others, it would be of no value.

Love is patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty, selfish, or rude.  Love does not demand its own way.  Love is not irritable or touchy.
Love does not hold grudges and hardly notices when others do it wrong.  Love is never glad about injustice, but rejoices when truth wins.  If you love someone you will be loyal.

Now we know so little; but, love goes on forever.  There are three things that are important - faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.

Recite the love chapter with your name in the place of love everyday for 30 days until love becomes a habit.  Your family and friends will really receive the greatest gift of all this holiday season.

Happy Holidays!
