Highlights of Red Ribbon Week:
A dance hosted on October 23rd for 6th-8th graders, including a dance-off, costume contest, prizes, a more! A separate dance was held later that night for 9th-12th graders, and offered a safe alternative to other Halloween activities, including dancing, contests and prizes! Unfiltered REALity, a local tobacco use prevention group, and the Mitchell High School Peer Helpers hosted the 9th Annual Trunk or Treat, a safe, drug, alcohol and tobacco free event. Over 40 businesses and organizations provided sweet treats to over 1,000 children ages 1 through 6. Monday: "Sock it to Drugs" by wearing crazy socks. Tuesday: "Band Together Against Drugs" by wearing a band or rock shirt. Wednesday: "Give Drugs the Slip" and wear your slippers. Thursday: "Staying Drug Free is No Sweat" - wear your sweat suits. Friday: "Don't be Tied Down to Drugs" and wear your necktie. As well as poster contests, daily announcements encouraging students to remain drug-free, and fun, interactive skits! | |||||||||
